You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Warsaw over the years, and Apartment Chmielna 2 really surprised me in the best way. I mean, when you first walk up to the building on Chmielna Street, it doesn’t look like much from the outside – just another pre-war building that’s seen better days. But honestly, that’s half the charm of staying in Śródmieście. The apartment itself is tucked away on the second floor (no elevator, just so you know), and while it’s definitely more functional than fancy, there’s something refreshingly honest about the place. The owner clearly put thought into making it actually livable rather than just Instagram-worthy, if that makes sense.

What I really loved was how genuinely central you are without feeling like you’re trapped in tourist hell. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Nowy Świat, which means you can grab coffee at one of those tiny cafes that locals actually frequent, or duck into Złote Tarasy when the weather turns (and trust me, Warsaw weather can turn fast). The apartment gets surprisingly quiet at night considering you’re right in the middle of everything – I was worried about street noise, but the windows are decent and Chmielna isn’t as crazy busy as some of the main drags. Actually, I found myself falling asleep to the gentle hum of late-night trams, which was oddly soothing. The kitchen is small but has everything you’d actually need – I made coffee every morning and even managed a simple dinner one night after hitting the Hala Mirowska market (about a fifteen-minute walk, totally worth it for fresh produce).

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a place where someone’s going to hold your hand through check-in or bring you fresh towels every day. It’s properly self-service, which I actually preferred, but some people might find the whole key pickup process a bit impersonal. The bathroom could use a refresh honestly, and the shower pressure is… well, let’s call it “European modest.” But the bed was comfortable enough, the heating worked perfectly during my November stay, and there’s solid WiFi throughout. I spent a lot of time just sitting by the window with my laptop, watching people hurry down the street with their shopping bags and umbrellas. The location really can’t be beat if you want to feel like you’re living in Warsaw rather than just visiting it – you’re close enough to walk to the Old Town when you feel touristy, but you’re also surrounded by the kind of everyday Polish life that makes a city feel real. For the price point and that 8.5 rating, it honestly delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.

  Although the apartement is in the center of the city, there is barely any street noise inside (especially in the sleeping room). The kitchenette is well equipped and the living room is quite spatious. Internet access was great. Perfect for a pair that wants to spend a weekend in Warsaw.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom sink was broken (and it seems it's like that for quite some time). Some of the furniture feels a bit cheap (but does the job, so no big complaint here). The sleeping room is quite small and the bed seems like sofa bed (?). But at the end, it was clean and comfortable, so those are only minor issues.
  
  There is no lift, which might be a problem for eldery visitors. And parking spaces in that location are often full (and paid during the weekdays).

  Huuge problems with the water heater. It was practic impossible to take a shower. Every 30 seconds the heater was turning off… I would not suggest booking that place until the problem with the water is solved.

  The apartment was simple, but clean, and the staff quickly responded for missing bedding. Amazing location, overall a good apartment.
  
  What could be improved: NO HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER, the owner should take a look at it, because showering only in cold water is uncomfortable. Also a broken toilet sink which sometimes leaks.

  What could be improved: Check in supposed to be at 4pm, we arrived after 5pm – room was not cleaned yet, we wanted to take shower and a nap before the event on the evening, but there were no towels and ONLY USED ONES from other guests… at 6pm cleaning lady came to clean the room and told us to go out… We talked about check in time with the owner and they confirmed us that they would prepare it earlier as we were already in Warsaw, but he just ignored us or confirmed what we wanted, but didn't follow that.
  Also, there are no ENGLISH instructions how to turn on hot water (only Polish ones) – we tried, but didn't work properly, so we had to take cold shower. Never had this kind of experience in my life…
