Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from City Center Aparthotel Chmielna when I first booked it – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, right? But you know what, this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked right on Nowy Świat, which if you don’t know Warsaw, is basically the main artery that cuts through the heart of the city. I mean, you’re literally steps away from everything that matters – the Royal Castle, Old Town, all those little cafés that locals actually go to (not just the tourist traps). What I loved most was how it felt like having your own little apartment rather than being stuck in some sterile hotel room. The kitchenette was actually functional – I’m talking real plates, not those flimsy things you usually get, and the fridge was big enough to store groceries from the Żabka downstairs. The bed was surprisingly comfortable too, though I’ll be honest, the pillows were a bit too soft for my taste, but that’s probably just me being picky.

The location really can’t be beat if you want to experience Warsaw like someone who actually lives there. You’re walking distance from Krakowskie Przedmieście – that gorgeous tree-lined street where university students hang out and street musicians play on weekends. Plus, you’ve got the metro station at Nowy Świat-Uniwersytet just a few minutes away, which makes getting to places like Wilanów Palace or even the airport pretty straightforward. I spent most evenings just wandering around the neighborhood, grabbing pierogi from this tiny place called Zapiecek (there’s one right around the corner), or having a beer at one of those basement bars that you’d never find unless you knew where to look. The staff at the aparthotel were genuinely helpful too – not in that overly rehearsed way, but like they actually cared about making sure you had a good stay. Check-in was smooth, they spoke decent English, and when I had trouble figuring out the washing machine (it was all in Polish, obviously), someone came up to show me how it worked without making me feel like an idiot.

I will say, if you’re someone who needs absolute silence to sleep, you might want to pack earplugs. This is the city center after all, and Nowy Świat can get a bit lively, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the bars empty out. But honestly, I found the urban buzz kind of charming – it felt authentic, you know? The building itself has that classic Warsaw vibe, sort of elegant but not pretentious, and my room had these tall windows that let in tons of natural light during the day. The whole experience felt less like staying in a hotel and more like borrowing a friend’s apartment in the coolest part of town. For the price point and that location, I’d definitely stay here again – it’s one of those places that just gets Warsaw right.
