The staff there seems to genuinely know their neighborhood too – when I asked about getting to the old town on foot, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the tourist route, but mentioned this quieter path that cuts through a nice park. Small detail, but it made a difference.

What really got me though was how they’ve managed to keep that 9.5 rating without being fancy. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing Instagram-worthy, but honestly, who cares? The beds are actually good (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which is more than I can say for some 4-star places I’ve stayed at. There’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on getting the basics right instead of trying to wow you with unnecessary amenities. The WiFi works properly throughout the building, check-in was smooth even when I arrived late, and – this might sound weird but it matters – the hallways don’t have that stale hotel smell that some places never seem to shake.

I stayed there during what seemed like a pretty busy period, and while you could hear some activity in the corridors during the day, it got quiet by evening. The windows do a decent job blocking street noise, though if you’re super sensitive to sound, maybe pack earplugs just in case. One minor thing – the elevator is a bit slow, but honestly, it gave me an excuse to chat with other guests, and I ended up getting some great restaurant recommendations from a couple who’d been visiting the city for years.
