You know what? I’ve stayed at a bunch of places in Warsaw’s Old Town, and Ego Apartments actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. The location on Piwna Street is honestly perfect – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Castle Square, but here’s the thing most people don’t realize: Piwna is just quiet enough that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of tourists dragging suitcases over cobblestones at all hours. I mean, you’ll still hear some street noise during the day (it’s the Old Town, after all), but evenings are surprisingly peaceful. The building itself has this great restored feel without being overly precious about it – thick walls that actually keep sound out, which is rare in these historic conversions.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to make the apartments feel like actual homes rather than hotel rooms with kitchenettes slapped in. The kitchens are properly equipped – I’m talking real knives that cut things, decent-sized fridges, and honestly good coffee makers. The bathrooms have this modern Polish design aesthetic that works really well, though fair warning: the water pressure can be a bit temperamental in the mornings when everyone’s getting ready. Check-in was smooth, and the staff actually knows the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this little milk bar on Freta Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. Storage space is generous too, which matters when you’re staying more than a night or two.

Here’s something you won’t read in other reviews: the location puts you right in the sweet spot for exploring both the reconstructed Old Town and the more authentic Praga district across the river. You can walk to the Royal Castle in minutes, sure, but you’re also perfectly positioned to catch tram 26 toward the more local neighborhoods where actual Varsovians hang out. Parking is… well, it’s Old Town parking, so forget about it unless you enjoy paying premium rates and navigating streets designed for horse carts. But honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway – everything’s walkable, and the public transport connections are solid. The 8.6 rating feels about right to me; it’s not luxury (the furnishings are nice but not fancy), but it delivers exactly what you want from an Old Town stay without the tourist trap markup. I’d definitely book here again, especially during shoulder season when you can really appreciate having that extra space and the option to grab groceries at the Żabka down the street instead of eating every meal at restaurant prices.
