Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Family Apartment Freta Warsaw Old Town by Noclegi Renters on cobblestoned Freta Street, you immediately know you’ve hit the jackpot location-wise. This four-star property sits right in the thick of Warsaw’s Old Town — I mean, you’re literally surrounded by centuries-old architecture and that unmistakable European charm that makes you want to Instagram everything. The building itself has that classic Polish character, though honestly, it’s what’s inside and the incredible positioning that really matters here.

The Heart of Old Town

You know what’s amazing about this spot? You can roll out of bed and be at the Royal Castle in about three minutes on foot. The location score of 9.3 isn’t just marketing fluff — it’s genuinely earned. I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim to be “centrally located,” but this one actually delivers. The Old Town Market Square is right there, along with all those colorful merchant houses that survived the war reconstruction. Plus, you’re close enough to hear the street musicians in the evening, but far enough that you can actually sleep.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel room. There’s a proper kitchen setup — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation — which honestly saved me quite a bit of money during my stay. You can grab fresh bread from the local bakeries and make your own breakfast, or cook up some pierogi from the nearby market. The space is thoughtfully laid out for families or couples (apparently couples really love this place), with enough room to spread out without feeling cramped.

Practical Comforts

What I appreciated most was how everything just worked smoothly. The Wi-Fi was solid — important when you’re trying to navigate a new city or upload those Old Town photos. The shower had decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on in historic buildings. There’s no on-site restaurant, but honestly, with this location you’d be crazy not to explore the incredible food scene right outside your door. I found myself grabbing coffee at different cafés each morning, which became part of the whole experience.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it gives you the best of both worlds — authentic Warsaw living with modern comfort. You’re not stuck in some sterile hotel chain miles from anything interesting. Instead, you’re waking up in the actual heart of the city, hearing church bells and watching locals head to work. The 8.1 rating makes sense when you factor in that unbeatable location and the apartment-style setup that lets you live like a temporary local. Sure, you might pay a bit more than staying out in the suburbs, but the time and money you save on transportation, plus the sheer joy of being steps away from everything worth seeing — it’s absolutely worth it.

Bad

What could be improved: We travel a lot, and Warsaw is often a stopover point. For such an overnight stay, we chose these apartments. Upon entering the stairwell, we were greeted by a strong smell of a basement and rotting potatoes. The apartment lock sticks – it takes some struggling to open the door. The kitchen bench is torn and worn out. When opening the drawer under the trash bin, it appeared dirty, sticky, and uncleaned. The living room sofa is so filthy and stained that you don’t even feel like sitting on it. There is no air conditioning, it’s stuffy, and if you open the windows, there’s a lot of noise from the street.

And the main issue – the service. When booking the apartment, I applied the filter “pets allowed” and also mentioned in the special request that we would be arriving with two pets. The confirmation came without any objections. In the evening, my bank is charged €60, and I receive an email from them with a photo of a dog food package pulled from the trash bin, accusing me of secretly bringing a dog. That’s just pathetic.

In total, this stay ended up costing €240 for a run-down apartment, when there are so many better options available. This is my first negative review, but this place is definitely not recommended.

Would definitely stay again

The apartment has an excellent location on the edge of the old town. Old town destinations (like Barbican, Cathedral or Royal Castle) are reachable in few minutes. Many nice local food restaurants around, close to Carrefour mini market (with long opening hours). 5 minutes walk to Multimedia fountain park. Public transport is also quite close in several directions.

The interior of the apartment looked nicer in reality than in photos. Nice, spacy apartment.

In the reviews, there was mentioned smell from the kitchen from the restaurant under the apartment. During our stay we felt no smell at all even thought the restaurant was open all days, full of people.

What could be improved: Missed paper towel (or kitchen cloth), no spare trash bags, there was only one placed inside the trash container, so we bought additional ones.
