Look, I’ll be honest – I almost walked past Flaner Hotel the first time because it doesn’t scream “look at me” from the street. But that’s actually what I love about this place. It’s got this understated confidence that you only really appreciate once you’re inside, and honestly? That’s exactly the kind of vibe I want when I’m traveling.

The whole WorldHotels Crafted thing isn’t just marketing speak here – they really did put thought into the details. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling that manages to be polished without being sterile, you know? I noticed they’ve got these amazing local art pieces scattered around (not the generic hotel prints you see everywhere), and the lighting is actually comfortable to read under. Small thing, but it tells you someone was paying attention. The staff genuinely seems to know the area too – I asked about a good spot for coffee that wasn’t touristy, and the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic map. He actually drew a little route and mentioned which pastries were worth trying at this café about six blocks over.

What really won me over was how the place feels during different parts of the day. Mornings are quietly efficient – no chaos at checkout, decent coffee in the lobby if you’re running late. Evenings have this nice energy where you’ll see a mix of business travelers unwinding and couples planning their next day’s adventures. The rooms themselves are well thought out in ways that matter when you’re actually living in the space for a few days. Good reading lights on both sides of the bed, enough outlets where you actually need them, and – this might sound weird – but the curtains actually block out light completely. I’m someone who really values sleep when traveling, and there’s nothing worse than streetlights keeping you up all night. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM anyway, which is perfect if you’re trying to adjust to a new time zone. I mean, it’s not dead quiet – you’re still in the city – but it’s that nice ambient hum that actually helps you sleep rather than keeping you awake. Four stars feels exactly right for this place. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in town, but everything they do, they do really well.
