Overview

You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of three-star places in Warsaw, and Hotel Hetman honestly surprised me. It’s tucked away on Kłopotowskiego Street in Praga Północ – which, let’s be real, isn’t the prettiest part of the city at first glance, but that’s actually what makes this place kind of special. You’re getting authentic Warsaw here, not the tourist bubble of Old Town. The neighborhood has this gritty charm that’s growing on people, and you’ll find some genuinely good pierogi spots within walking distance that most visitors never discover. The hotel itself feels like someone took a solid older building and gave it a thoughtful renovation without going overboard – the lobby has this warm, understated vibe with dark wood and comfortable seating that doesn’t scream “budget hotel” at all.

The rooms are what really won me over, though. I mean, they’re not huge, but whoever designed them actually thought about how people use hotel rooms. The bed was properly comfortable (not one of those rock-hard European mattresses), and there’s enough space to open your suitcase without doing gymnastics around the furniture. The bathroom was spotless with good water pressure – honestly, after dealing with some sketchy showers in Warsaw’s city center, this felt luxurious. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Praga Północ isn’t exactly party central, so you can actually sleep without earplugs, which is more than I can say for hotels near the main tourist drag. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions – they gave me actual directions to the nearest tram stop (it’s about a seven-minute walk) and recommended a local restaurant that turned out to be fantastic.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Warsaw – you’re maybe fifteen minutes by tram to the real action downtown, but you get to see how the city actually works. I’d walk to the Vistula riverbank in the mornings, which is surprisingly peaceful, and there’s something satisfying about crossing back into the main city feeling like you know a secret. The area around the hotel has a few decent cafes and a small grocery store, plus parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the center (though honestly, if you’re driving in Warsaw, you’re braver than me). I stayed here during a busy conference week when everything downtown was either booked solid or ridiculously expensive, and Hotel Hetman felt like finding a hidden gem. It’s not fancy – don’t expect a spa or room service – but it’s solid, comfortable, and run by people who seem to care about doing things right. For the price point, especially with that 8.8 rating making perfect sense once you’re there, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel smart for booking it instead of overpaying for something flashier but less authentic.

Apartments in Warsaw provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Polish markets and cook with regional culinary specialties.

Great stay, great location

Perfect location if you are attending an event at the stadium (within walking distance even if you are tired). Multiple public transit stops around, and easy connection to the train going to the airport. Both the Old Town and the zoo can be reached in 5-6 mins by tram. The room was bigger than expected, airconditioned, and cleaned daily. The bed was very soft and comfortable with convenient outlets behind the nightstands. The staff were friendly and helpful, they let us check in few hours early. There are many minimarkets and food options around, some open until 11pm. We tried the restaurant across from the hotel, which had a tasty lunch menu.

What could be improved: The pillows were very soft and smooshable, which some people might not find comfortable.
