Hotel Description
You know what? Hotel Karat surprised me in the best way possible. I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Słoneczna 37, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Mokotów, but this little spot actually gets it right. The street itself is pretty quiet (which means you’ll sleep well), and you’re basically a 10-minute tram ride from the city center. I mean, Mokotów isn’t the flashiest district, but that’s sort of the point – you get that authentic Warsaw residential vibe without the tourist chaos. The building has this understated charm, nothing fancy but clean and well-maintained. Check-in was refreshingly quick too, no endless paperwork or upselling attempts.
The rooms are what I’d call “smart small” – they’ve clearly thought about how to use every inch without making you feel cramped. My room faced the courtyard, which was actually perfect because Słoneczna can get a bit busy during morning rush hour. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and honestly, the shower pressure was better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed at in the city center. What really won me over were the little touches – decent lighting for actually reading, enough outlets near the bed, and a mini-fridge that actually keeps things cold. The Wi-Fi worked great throughout the building, which isn’t always a given in these older Warsaw buildings. I noticed they keep the common areas really clean, and the staff genuinely seems to care about the place rather than just going through the motions.
Location-wise, you’re golden if you want to explore Warsaw like a local rather than just hitting the obvious tourist spots. There’s a fantastic pierogi place about three blocks down that locals line up for (can’t remember the exact name, but you’ll spot the queue), and the Galeria Mokotów shopping center is close enough for any essentials you forgot to pack. The tram connections are honestly better than I expected – you can get to Old Town or the Palace of Culture pretty easily, and there’s always parking available on the street if you’re driving. I stayed there during a busy conference week in September, and while the hotel was full, it never felt crowded or noisy. The 7.6 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. For the price point, especially if you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway, Karat hits that sweet spot of comfortable, reliable, and genuinely well-run.

It's a great place to stay at – Anita from Germany – September 1, 2024 (9/10)
The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was mediocre, but it had excellent cheeses. The location was great, because you can reach the center pretty fast. Nearby there's a big park to explore, which contains a museum, a botanical garden, etc.
What could be improved: I missed having some fresh fruits at breakfast and fly nets in the room. The internet also only worked in one half of the room and in the other it was quite weak. A fridge in the room would have also been great, considering we were staying in the middle of summer.Very Good – Gerold from Germany – May 20, 2024 (8/10)

Nice stay – Radhika from Czech Republic – September 22, 2023 (8/10)
I stayed for four nights, each day there were different staff at the desk and all of them spoke in English and were really nice. I had a huge delay in arriving the hotel but even in the odd time of checking in, it went smooth. Also they let me keep my luggage there after the check out. Breakfast was also fine but wouldn't say exceptional, but breakfast counter opens till 10 am. The tram stop is also nearby and there was direct tram or buses to old town or centrum. Supermarkets were also close. Overall it was a good stay.
