Overview

You know what? When I first saw the address – right on Old Town Market Square – I honestly thought this might be one of those tourist traps that looks amazing in photos but feels completely artificial once you’re there. I mean, being literally on the main square in Warsaw’s reconstructed medieval heart seemed almost too good to be true. But after staying here for a long weekend last spring, I can tell you it’s actually the real deal, even if it comes with some quirks you should know about.

The apartment itself is tucked into one of those narrow townhouses that line the square – you’ll walk past about a dozen restaurants with outdoor seating just to reach the entrance, which is both fantastic and slightly chaotic depending on the time of day. The space feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile (there’s this worn wooden dining table that I absolutely loved), and the windows facing the square give you front-row seats to all the street performers and wedding photo shoots that happen constantly out there. Fair warning though – if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs. The cobblestones amplify every footstep, and weekend nights can get pretty lively with people bar-hopping between Zapiecek and all the other spots right below you. I actually grew to love the sounds after the first night – it felt like being part of the city’s rhythm rather than just observing it from some generic hotel room.

What really sold me on this place was how it connects you to the neighborhood beyond just the obvious tourist stuff. Sure, you’re thirty seconds from the Royal Castle and can grab those famous zapiekanka from the street vendors without putting on shoes, but you’re also close enough to walk to Krakowskie Przedmieście for proper shopping, or duck into one of the milk bars on the side streets when you want cheap, authentic Polish food instead of the pricier square restaurants. The host left this handwritten list of recommendations that included a tiny bookshop on Piwna Street and a coffee roaster that locals actually use – those kinds of details that make you feel less like a tourist with a camera. Parking is honestly a nightmare if you’re driving (I ended up using a garage about ten minutes away), but the tram connections are solid, and you can walk to most of central Warsaw anyway. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s comfortable and charming without being fancy, though the bathroom could use some updating and the WiFi gets spotty when it rains. But honestly, when you’re sipping morning coffee while watching the square come alive with vendors setting up their stalls, those minor issues fade pretty quickly. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re actually staying in Warsaw rather than just visiting it.

To book hotel in Warsaw during the famous Warsaw Autumn music festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts history enthusiasts and cultural travelers from around the world.

Overall disappointed with the facilities but very happy with the location.

Location was superb, building had character and in the heart of the old town.

What could be improved: The apartment was a lot smaller than the pictures suggested, there were also several maintenance issues, the shower drain did not work so every time we tried to shower the bathroom flooded. Handrails on the extremely steep stairs/ladder to the upstairs bedroom was detaching from the wall, skylight in the bedroom woke us up very early every morning, only one toilet paper roll for 4 people for 3 days, liquid soap was empty in the house and pillows were very flat!
Also no access to heating in the house it was turned off. Overall disappointed with the facilities but very happy with the location.
