You know what caught me off guard about Mennica Residence I? The name had me expecting something ultra-modern and sterile, but this place actually has character. It’s one of those 4-star spots that gets the balance right between being polished enough for business travelers but still feeling like somewhere you’d want to hang out.

The building itself sits in what feels like a quieter pocket of the city – not dead quiet, mind you, but you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise either. When I first walked into the lobby, honestly, it reminded me of those boutique hotels you stumble across in European cities where someone clearly thought about the design instead of just ordering everything from a hotel furniture catalog. The reception staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than going through the motions, which is refreshing. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or surprise room “upgrades” you didn’t ask for.

The rooms are where this place really shows its 8.5 rating makes sense. They’re not huge – I mean, we’re talking city hotel here, not a resort – but everything feels intentional. The bed was actually comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), good blackout curtains for sleeping in, and the bathroom had decent water pressure. Little things matter when you’re staying somewhere, and they seem to get that. The WiFi worked properly throughout the building, which sadly isn’t always a given even at nicer places. What I appreciated was how quiet it stayed at night – you might hear the occasional door close in the hallway, but no paper-thin walls or mystery banging from upstairs neighbors.

The area around the hotel is pretty walkable, and you’ll find yourself near enough to restaurants and cafes that you’re not stuck eating hotel food every meal (though their breakfast was decent – nothing fancy, but fresh and filling). Parking can be a bit of a puzzle like most city hotels, so if you’re driving, maybe call ahead to sort that out. I noticed the place tends to fill up during certain times of year, so booking ahead probably makes sense if your dates aren’t flexible. Overall, it’s the kind of place that does what it promises without any dramatic surprises – sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
