My room had these beautiful high ceilings (which actually made it feel way more spacious than the square footage suggested) and the bathroom was surprisingly modern. The shower pressure was excellent, which honestly matters more to me after a long day of walking cobblestones than fancy toiletries. Speaking of walking, the floors can be a bit creaky – it’s just the nature of these older buildings – but it adds character rather than being annoying. Check-in was smooth, and the staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between authentic local atmosphere and actual comfort. The area gets busy during peak tourist season, sure, but early mornings and evenings have this lovely quiet energy where you can actually hear the city waking up or winding down. I’d grab coffee from the little café around the corner and just sit by the window watching people head to work. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re looking for a place that feels genuinely connected to the neighborhood rather than some isolated hotel bubble, this is your spot. Just don’t expect a concierge desk or room service – but honestly, with all the incredible local restaurants within a five-minute walk, why would you want to eat hotel food anyway?
