Old Town Home

Overview

You know what? I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Warsaw’s Old Town, and Old Town Home really hits that sweet spot between location and authenticity. The address says it all – you’re literally on the main square (Rynek Starego Miasta), which honestly can be a double-edged sword. During the day, you’ll hear the clip-clop of horse carriages and street musicians, but it actually quiets down nicely in the evenings when the tour groups head back to their buses. The building itself has that classic Warsaw charm – I mean, it’s been reconstructed like most of the Old Town after the war, but they’ve done it right. Walking up to apartment 5 on the second floor, you get this feeling like you’re staying in someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room.

The thing about this place is that it’s genuinely a 3-star experience, but the location bumps it up significantly in terms of value. You’re steps away from the Royal Castle (literally a two-minute walk), and if you head down Świętojańska Street, you’ll hit all the little amber shops and pierogi joints that the locals actually frequent – not just the touristy spots right on the square. I appreciated that the apartment felt lived-in without being worn down, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually has proper coffee (not just instant), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. Parking is… well, it’s Old Town Warsaw, so forget about driving here. But the tram stop at Plac Zamkowy is right there, and you can get anywhere in the city pretty easily.

What really sold me on the place was the little details – decent water pressure in the shower (trust me, this matters in older Warsaw buildings), windows that actually keep the sound down when you need to sleep, and honestly, the host seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. They pointed me toward this tiny milk bar on Piwna Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and authentic. During summer, the square can get pretty busy with wedding photos and festivals, but there’s something magical about having your morning coffee while watching Warsaw wake up below. Just don’t expect hotel-style room service or a concierge desk – this is more like borrowing a friend’s apartment, which is exactly what makes it special.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Warsaw through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for experiencing the city’s rich history and modern development.

Wonderful

Location and very nice facilities!!

What could be improved: We were uncomfortable to open the windows since we had small children and there was no screen or protection from falling out. Also the wifi was mediocre but did work

Friendly host and good value for money. Would stay there again.

Great communication with the host, simple access and good facilities.

What could be improved: Lack of black-out curtains on a window that is 24/7 brightly illuminated. I could improvise a fix, but it would have been great if the owner thought of that themselves.

TV did not work too well. I am guessing due to poor internet connection.
