Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Old Town Market Place Apartment on Freta Street, you immediately sense you’ve found something special. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Warsaw’s historic Śródmieście district, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better. The building itself has that classic Warsaw charm — you know, the kind that survived everything this city has been through and still manages to look dignified. Every corner tells a story of resilience and elegance.
The Perfect Old Town Location
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re literally steps away from the Old Town Market Square, which means you can duck out for morning coffee at one of those tiny cafés before the tour groups arrive. The Royal Castle is practically around the corner, and the Vistula River embankment is just a pleasant five-minute walk when you need some fresh air. I mean, couples absolutely rave about this spot (the 8.5 rating speaks for itself), and I get why — there’s something romantic about wandering these cobblestone streets at night, then coming back to your own little Warsaw hideaway. The neighborhood pulses with history and contemporary energy.
The Apartment Experience
What sets this place apart is that you’re getting an actual apartment, not just a hotel room. The space feels authentically Polish but with all the modern touches you actually need. The kitchen is properly equipped — not one of those sad hotel kitchenettes with a broken coffee maker. You can actually cook here if you want to, though honestly, with all the incredible pierogi places nearby, you might not bother. The living area gives you room to spread out, which is refreshing after days of cramped European hotel rooms. This flexibility transforms your stay into a genuine home experience.
Neighborhood Insights
Freta Street itself is fascinating — it’s where Marie Curie was born, and there’s a small museum dedicated to her just down the block. The street has this wonderful mix of local life and tourist attractions without feeling overwhelming. You’ll find a decent grocery store nearby (essential for apartment stays), plus some excellent traditional Polish restaurants that locals actually frequent. The parking situation is typical for Old Town Warsaw — challenging but manageable if you really need it. The neighborhood rewards exploration at every turn.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this apartment work is how it balances authentic Warsaw living with tourist practicality. You’re not isolated in some sterile hotel complex — you’re part of the neighborhood rhythm. Recent guests consistently highlight the location, and I understand why. It’s that sweet spot where you can explore major sights on foot but also discover those hidden courtyards and local spots that make Warsaw special. The fact that couples rate it so highly tells you something about the atmosphere — it’s intimate and welcoming without being stuffy or overly formal. This is where memories are made.

Pretty good
Nice location, there is everything for a good stay, from dishes to a washing machine, spacious and cozy
What could be improved: Shards of glass in the carpet, I cut my leg on a shard, the windows are difficult to open and close
Great location, super stylish apartment!
The apartment is in a super location for the Warsaw Old Town. It is just tucked away enough to escape the main square and the hustle bustle and noise, but is close enough to be in walking distance of anywhere you might want to be. The pull down bed is a super versatile option for guests travelling in small groups, like we did! The decor is super stylish.
What could be improved: The bathroom has a few small issues that the owner/renter could do with investigating. The drain for the shower was either clogged, or has not been installed correctly, as water was very slow to drain away. As the bathroom is actually a wet room, this might have the potential to impact others in your group wanting to use the toilet. The tap on the sink has also been damaged and not maintained over a period of time.
The WiFi was really patchy and very very slow, but honestly, we spent only a little time using it, so this was a minor issue for us.
Some of the furniture is showing signs of wear, but nothing at all major! Just average wear and tear that would be expected with short term lets of this type across many places!
All of these issues were fairly minor (bathroom more an inconvenience than a major issue). I am sure that the owner/renter/management can easily resolve these issues with quick and easy solutions.
