Overview

You know what struck me first about the Orla Residence? It’s one of those places that feels way more expensive than it actually is. I mean, sure, it’s got four stars, but honestly – and I’ve stayed at plenty of supposedly five-star places that didn’t have half the charm this spot does.

The whole vibe is sort of understated elegant, if that makes sense. When you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of calm that washes over you, like someone actually thought about how spaces make people feel instead of just cramming in as much marble as possible. The lobby has this gorgeous natural light that changes throughout the day – I actually found myself working down there in the afternoons because it was just so pleasant. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy their jobs too, which is rarer than you’d think. Check-in was smooth as butter, and the front desk guy (I think his name was Marcus?) gave me some solid recommendations for dinner that weren’t just the obvious touristy spots.

What really sets this place apart though are all those little details that show someone’s paying attention. The rooms are spacious without feeling cavernous, and the beds – God, the beds are perfect. Not too soft, not too firm, just that sweet spot where you sink in just enough. The bathrooms have proper water pressure (thank you!), and there’s actually decent lighting around the mirror, which every woman will appreciate when she’s trying to get ready. I loved that they had both blackout curtains AND sheers, so you can control exactly how much light you want filtering in during those lazy morning hours. The Wi-Fi was rock solid throughout the building too – worked perfectly for video calls, which is always my litmus test.

Honestly, the 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top impressive. Instead, it just consistently gets everything right in a way that feels effortless. The housekeeping team is thorough but not intrusive, the common areas stay immaculate without feeling sterile, and there’s this overall sense that they’ve figured out how to run a hotel properly. I stayed during what seemed like a pretty busy period, but it never felt chaotic or overwhelmed – they’ve clearly got their systems down pat. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs just in case, though I found the noise levels totally reasonable for a city hotel. This is definitely the kind of place I’d come back to without hesitation, and actually, I’m already looking at dates for my next trip.
