Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Dom Literatury on Krakowskie Przedmieście – honestly, the name had me thinking it might be some stuffy academic guesthouse. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked right into one of Warsaw’s most beautiful streets (seriously, this stretch is gorgeous for evening walks), and while it’s definitely not fancy, there’s something genuinely charming about staying somewhere that feels more like a well-run pension than a typical hotel. The building itself has that solid, old Warsaw character – you can hear your footsteps echo a bit in the hallways, but in a cozy way, not creepy. I mean, you’re literally sleeping in the heart of Śródmieście, so you’re going to get some street noise, especially on weekends when people are walking back from the Old Town, but it dies down pretty reasonably by midnight.
What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood – not just the obvious tourist spots, but like, where to grab decent pierogi at 10 PM or which tram stop is less of a zoo during rush hour. The rooms are clean and functional (think IKEA meets Polish practicality), and honestly, for a 3-star place, everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some fancier hotels I’ve stayed at. The beds are firm – maybe too firm if you’re used to those pillow-top things, but I slept well. There’s this slightly old-fashioned smell in the corridors, sort of like wood polish and old books, which actually fits the literary theme they’ve got going on. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no upselling or lengthy explanations of amenities you’ll never use.
The location is honestly the real selling point here, though I hate using that phrase because every hotel says it. But seriously – you can walk to the Royal Castle in about eight minutes, Nowy Świat is right there for shopping and cafes, and if you want to venture into Praga or anywhere else, the public transport connections are solid. I found myself just wandering Krakowskie Przedmieście in the mornings with my coffee, watching the city wake up, which felt pretty perfect. There’s a decent breakfast spot called Café Bristol just a few blocks down if you don’t want to venture far, and the little grocery store on the corner stays open late, which saved me more than once. Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll be posting Instagram shots of your bathroom or anything, but if you want a genuine, unpretentious base for exploring Warsaw without paying Old Town prices, Dom Literatury delivers exactly what it promises. The 8.5 rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, and that’s actually pretty refreshing.

Amazing location, and such a cool building to stay in with a great atmosphere.
What could be improved: Towels could be refreshed, but otherwise everything was great.Exceptional – Sander from Estonia – June 26, 2025 (10/10)
Not the fanciest hotel in Warsaw but if you want to wake up almost in the middle of the old town that’s the place! Great view from the window if you get the room facing the square in front on the building. Staff is very friendly.
Utterly superb location 6 Stars!!!! – Adam from United Kingdom – June 11, 2025 (10/10)
The location Grade A + I loved the slowest lift in the world, this place is quirky, you’ve got to have an open mind. My room was huge & bathroom, clean, the place needs better pillows!!! ASAP!!! You are paying for what I consider to be the best location ever for the price and I’ve travelled to every country in Europe
What could be improved: All I can say that this place is crying out to be and could be a fantastic Boutique Hotel, if ever for sale, I’d buy this place.Very Good – Riikka from Finland – June 3, 2025 (8/10)
The location of the hotel couldn’t be better! The room was spacious and I enjoyed the view to the royal castle.
What could be improved: The bed was clean, and sheets were pristine. Sleeping was enjoyable. The furniture in the room was dated but functional – I think it suited the room well 🙂 However, the rug of the room was grey instead of white – it has been collecting dust for quite some time.Historic Charm with a Royal View – Bozena from Spain – June 1, 2025 (9/10)
Unbeatable location just steps from the entrance to Old Town, directly across from the Royal Castle.
The guest rooms are on the top floor, offering fantastic views over the city. It’s an older building, so the elevator is slow but taking the stairs adds charm (and a bit of a workout) to the experience.
It can get noisy at night. But that’s part of the magic of Old Town, this is the heart of the city, where life happens late and loud.
Water and tar are in the hall outside not in the room, different and part of the charm.
What could be improved: Some amenities would be useful – there was a small container of shampoo and would be great to have conditioner and hand lotion.historic place to stay – Byy from Ukraine – May 28, 2025 (9/10)
This is a unique experience – it's an old building in the very heart of the old town.
Staying there you kind of travel in time. The view on the castle is just amazing.
The room was clean.I highly recommend even for longer stay. Big spacy rooms. Very clean. – Iryna from Poland – May 14, 2025 (10/10)
Perfect location. It can’t be even more central. Very clean and cozy, clean and crispy bed linen.
What could be improved: A bit hidden on the 3rd floor. It was quite difficult to navigate. Weird elevator, that requires you to hold the button in order to move up.this is one room I can brag about staying in! – Sanae from Japan – May 5, 2025 (8/10)
The location was perfect
– direct access to/from airport by public bus
– right next to the old town
– you’re staying in a building with history, that shows up on paintings from the 1700s (the original building was built in 1660)
– I had the room with the balcony, so in the evening I got to watch castle square from my own private perch 🙂
What could be improved: shower pressure low, I have long thick hair and showering took so long!Lovely place with character in a perfect location – Gregory from Australia – March 23, 2025 (9/10)
Cute spot, perfect place. Nice, warm and clean – great location. Staff very helpful
