Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Residence 1898 feels like discovering Warsaw’s best-kept secret — well, maybe not so secret anymore given how many guests keep coming back. This four-star property sits right on Marszałkowska Street, and I mean right in the thick of everything that makes Warsaw’s Śródmieście district buzz with energy. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, but once you’re inside, you realize there’s something special happening here.
Location That Actually Matters
You know what’s rare in Warsaw? Finding a place where you can walk to both the trendy cafés and the serious cultural sites without breaking a sweat. From Residence 1898, the Palace of Culture and Science is practically next door, and the main shopping areas are just steps away. I’ve stayed in plenty of Warsaw hotels that claim to be central, but this one actually delivers — couples especially seem to get it, rating the location a solid 9.5. The neighborhood has that perfect mix of local life and tourist-friendly spots, so you’re not stuck in some sterile hotel district.
The Rooms and That Famous Sleep
Honestly, the beds here live up to their reputation. I’m usually skeptical when hotels boast about their mattresses, but whatever they’re doing at Residence 1898 works — guests consistently rave about getting genuinely good sleep. The rooms themselves strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and character, with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase (a small miracle in central Warsaw). The design feels thoughtful rather than flashy, and there are those little touches that show someone actually thinks about what travelers need.
Practical Perks That Matter
Here’s something you don’t find everywhere in downtown Warsaw — free parking on-site. I mean, if you’ve ever tried to park in Śródmieście, you’ll understand why this is basically gold. The fact that so many guests return here tells you something too; people don’t usually become repeat customers unless a place consistently gets the basics right. It’s not just about the big gestures but those everyday conveniences that make your stay smooth rather than stressful.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both refined and genuinely welcoming. You’re staying in one of Warsaw’s most dynamic neighborhoods, but you’ve got this calm, well-run base to return to each day. The combination of that unbeatable location, seriously comfortable accommodations, and thoughtful service creates something that’s harder to find than you’d think — a hotel that actually enhances your Warsaw experience rather than just providing a place to sleep. When you factor in practical wins like the parking and those famously comfortable beds, it’s easy to see why people keep coming back to Residence 1898.

The size of the room was very good and very clean
Brilliant hotel apartment, I could not fault it. Huge room.
Decor very good in the room
Despite having some parts that were being renovated, or so it seemed, they were able to help us get settled into the hotel quite easily. There are several restaurants only 1 street away and a few small grocery stores. The room we stayed at was quite large and was a wonderful place to return to.
Great location, really spacious.
Very responsive staff, whatever the issue they solved it quickly.
Apartment was large with nice comfy sitting room, fridge and cooking facilities. Good coffee served downstairs. Easy to walk to restaurants and to get a metro into town.
