Overview
You know what’s funny about places with “Royal Palace” in the name? Half the time they’re trying way too hard, but this little apartment actually delivers on the elegant part without all the pretentious nonsense. I stayed here last spring and honestly, I was expecting some dated three-star situation – instead, I found this surprisingly charming spot that feels more like crashing at your well-traveled aunt’s place than a typical hotel.
The first thing that hits you is how quiet it gets at night, which is honestly a blessing if you’re used to paper-thin walls and street noise. The apartment itself has these lovely high ceilings and original details that someone clearly cared enough to preserve – I mean, you can tell the difference between authentic character and that fake vintage stuff they slap on everywhere these days. The kitchen actually works too, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places have those sad little setups where you can barely boil water. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because, well, why not? There’s something satisfying about making coffee in your own space instead of hunting down an overpriced café every day.
What really won me over though was the attention to small stuff that actually matters when you’re living somewhere for a few days. Good lighting for reading (seriously underrated), decent water pressure in the shower, and – this is key – enough outlets placed where you actually need them. The bed situation is solid too; firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you wrestled a mattress all night. I’ve stayed in plenty of places with higher star ratings where they clearly spent all their money on lobby marble and forgot people actually need to sleep comfortably. The whole place has this lived-in elegance that feels genuine rather than staged for Instagram photos. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that endless paperwork dance some places put you through. That 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days; it’s not flashy or trying to be something it’s not, but everything just… works the way it should, which is honestly more rare than you’d think in this business.
