You know what struck me first about Śródmieście Apartment by the River? It’s that perfect sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. I mean, the name literally translates to “downtown” in Polish, and honestly – they nailed the location. You’re right in the thick of things but somehow still tucked away enough that you can actually hear the river when you open the windows at night.

The apartment itself has this lived-in charm that I wasn’t expecting from a 4-star place. Everything’s thoughtfully put together without feeling sterile or overly curated – you know how some places try so hard to be Instagram-perfect that they forget people actually need to, well, live there? Not here. The kitchen’s properly equipped (I’m talking real knives and a coffee setup that doesn’t make you want to cry), and there’s this gorgeous view of the water that changes completely depending on the time of day. Morning light hits differently when you’re watching early joggers cross the bridge while your coffee’s brewing. The furnishings feel authentic to the area too – none of that generic hotel furniture that could be anywhere from Miami to Mumbai.

What really sets this place apart though is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re walking distance from the main market square – maybe ten minutes if you’re not in a rush – but you get to cut through these smaller streets that most tourists never see. There’s this little bakery two blocks over that opens ridiculously early, and I swear the owner remembers your order after two visits. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to European city centers), but the building has a small courtyard that usually has space if you’re not arriving during Friday evening rush. The river path is perfect for morning walks or evening runs, and you’ll see the same locals out there every day – it feels like you’re part of something rather than observing from the outside. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that corporate hotel rigmarole. Just real people who actually know the area and can point you toward the good stuff – like which tram line gets you to the old town fastest, or where to grab groceries without paying tourist prices. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re the type who wants to experience a place rather than just see it.

  Loved the mosquito nets on the windows! Spacious rooms, with nice double beds and plenty of space to store luggage. Enough table space for 4 artists in the living room to sketch and paint together.
