Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard I was staying in Praga, I had that typical tourist reaction of “wait, isn’t that the sketchy part of Warsaw?” But SuperApart Targowa 21 completely changed my perspective on this neighborhood, and honestly, I’m kind of glad most visitors stick to the Old Town because it means Praga stays authentic. The building itself sits right on Targowa street, which – fun fact – literally means “market street,” and you can still feel that commercial energy buzzing around. It’s this perfectly renovated spot that somehow manages to feel both modern and respectful of the area’s gritty character. The apartments are spacious (I mean, actually spacious, not European-tiny-but-we’ll-call-it-cozy spacious), and mine had this great little kitchenette that came in handy since there are some incredible local spots nearby where you can grab fresh ingredients. The 8.6 rating makes total sense once you’re there – everything works, it’s clean, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the beds are actually comfortable.

What really sold me on this place was the location, though I know that sounds crazy since most guidebooks barely mention this side of the Vistula. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Praga Museum, which sits in this beautifully restored gasworks building and tells the real story of working-class Warsaw. The neighborhood has this amazing mix of old-school Polish bars (the kind where babcias nurse single beers for hours), trendy coffee shops that wouldn’t look out of place in Berlin, and these fantastic murals scattered around that you stumble across randomly. Ząbkowska street is just a short stroll away, and that’s where the real action is – proper pierogi at Krowarzywa, craft beer at Cuda na Kiju, and if you’re feeling adventurous, some of the best Vietnamese food in the city (there’s a whole Vietnamese community in Praga that most tourists never discover). The tram connections are actually better than a lot of central locations – you can hop on the 4 or 13 and be in the Old Town in fifteen minutes, but honestly, after a couple days I found myself wanting to rush back to Praga because it felt more… real, you know?

The only minor thing I’d mention is that weekend nights can get a bit lively – not obnoxiously loud, but you’ll hear people heading home from the bars, which personally I found kind of charming in a urban-life sort of way. Check-in was smooth (they’ve got this modern key system that actually works), and the staff clearly knows the area well – they pointed me toward this fantastic Saturday market on Różyckiego that I never would have found otherwise. Oh, and parking is way easier here than anywhere central, which matters if you’re planning day trips outside Warsaw. SuperApart Targowa 21 isn’t trying to be some fancy boutique experience, but it nails the fundamentals while dropping you into one of Warsaw’s most interesting neighborhoods. Three stars feels almost conservative – sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to oversell themselves.

  Staying in the apartments near the railway station in Warsaw was a pleasant experience overall. The apartments were clean, quiet, well-maintained, and had extremely comfortable beds.
  
  What could be improved: The check-in instructions were ambiguous, which caused a delay and added a bit of frustration to my arrival. Once I figured it out, everything went smoothly, but clearer communication would have made the process much easier. Despite this minor hiccup, I would recommend the apartment for its great location and cleanliness.

  Świetna lokalizacja, blisko komunikacja miejska, w tym metro, sklepy, restauracje. Okna w naszym pokoju skierowane na podwórze, więc w nocy spało się komfortowo, nie było słychać zgiełku miasta. Pokój czysty i dobrze wyposażony.
