Sure, the carpets aren’t brand new and there’s a slight creak in some of the floorboards, but it adds character rather than feeling run-down.

What really sold me was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms have these thick curtains that block out light completely (trust me, you’ll appreciate this if you’re dealing with jet lag), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable – not too soft, not too firm. The bathroom water pressure is solid, which honestly makes or breaks a hotel stay for me. And here’s something you don’t usually find – they have enough outlets near the bed for all your devices, positioned where you can actually reach them. Check-in was refreshingly smooth – no twenty-minute speeches about resort fees or breakfast upsells, just friendly efficiency. They even helped me figure out the best route to avoid construction on one of the main streets (apparently it’s been going on for months, but locals know the shortcuts). The breakfast isn’t elaborate, but it’s fresh and there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying several days.
