You know what surprised me most about Mia Stępińska? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street in Mokotów, but you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Royal Lazienki Park – and I mean the good entrance, not the touristy main gates where all the buses dump people. The building itself is one of those classic Warsaw apartment blocks that’s been converted into a hotel, which honestly works really well here. The lobby’s small but welcoming, and the woman at reception (I think her name was Anna?) knew exactly which tram lines to take into the Old Town without me even asking. Check-in was smooth – they had my room ready by 2 PM even though I’d arrived early from a delayed flight.

The room was… well, it’s a solid 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or anything fancy, but everything worked perfectly and it was spotless. I mean spotless. The bed was actually really comfortable – sometimes these smaller hotels skimp on mattresses, but this one was just right. What I loved was the little kitchenette area with a proper coffee machine (not those terrible pod things) and a mini-fridge that actually kept things cold. The shower had great water pressure too, which you can’t always count on in Warsaw’s older buildings. My room faced the courtyard, so it was dead quiet at night – you’d never know you’re in a city of nearly two million people. Though honestly, even the street-facing rooms probably aren’t too noisy since Stępińska isn’t a major thoroughfare.

Location-wise, this place is perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Warsaw rather than just visiting it. There’s this fantastic little bakery called Piekarnia Sowa just two blocks down that opens at 6 AM – their rogale are incredible and cost maybe 3 złoty. The Pole Mokotowskie metro station is about a 12-minute walk, or you can catch the number 4 tram right at the corner which takes you straight to the city center. But here’s the thing – you might not even want to leave the neighborhood that much. Royal Lazienki is obviously the main draw (those peacocks are everywhere in spring, fair warning), but there’s also this whole network of smaller parks and green spaces that most tourists never discover. I spent an entire afternoon just wandering around with a book and some takeout from the Vietnamese place on Puławska. The staff gave me a hand-drawn map with all their favorite local spots marked on it, which was such a nice touch. I stayed four nights and honestly felt like I could’ve stayed longer – it’s that kind of place where you settle in quickly and start developing little routines. For the price point and that 9-star rating, I totally get why people keep coming back here.

  What could be improved: Sprzątanie było ok, ale raz na jakiś czas warto byłoby zajrzeć pod łóżko 😉 Ręczniki i pościel były całkiem nowe (super), ale lepiej się korzysta z upranych chociaż raz. W kuchni przydałby się jakiś mniejszy garnek.
