I’ll be honest – when I first walked into P&O Apartments Okrzei, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Stara Praga. You know how some neighborhoods get labeled as “up and coming” for like a decade? Well, this area actually delivered on that promise. The building itself has that satisfying mix of old Warsaw character with renovations that don’t feel like they’re trying too hard.

What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being right in the heart of things. I mean, Stara Praga has this reputation for being gritty and artistic – which it totally is – but somehow these apartments sit in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to stumble home from the bars on Ząbkowska Street, but far enough that you’re not hearing every conversation at 2 AM. The 4-star rating feels right, honestly. It’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but everything works properly and the space actually feels like somewhere you’d want to hang out, not just crash.

The apartment setup is what sold me though. There’s something about having a proper kitchen that changes the whole travel vibe – suddenly you’re picking up pierogi from the market on Różyckiego (which is walking distance, by the way) instead of eating tourist food every meal. The windows are decent sized, which matters more than you’d think when Warsaw’s winter light is already limited. I stayed during shoulder season and the heating was solid, though I imagine summer might get a bit warm since these older buildings weren’t really designed with AC in mind. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward lobby hovering while they “prepare your room.” The 8.3 rating makes sense when you consider it’s not just about fancy amenities, but about whether the place actually works for real people staying more than a night or two. You’re basically getting apartment living with hotel backup, which honestly beats both cramped hotel rooms and the Wild West of random Airbnb hosts who may or may not respond to your messages.
